On the day after it is official that Chris Chelios will not be back next year with the Detroit Red Wings, I thought it important to point out that Mr. Chelios is a professional athlete that should be admired.  He played hard, which earned him a reputation for being the most hated man in hockey if he was not on your team, but would be one of the greatest when he was on your team.  Since coming to Detroit in 1999, he has really set up roots in Detroit.  Chris Chelios can be seen at many events through out Michigan.  His greatest contribution thought is Cheli’s Chilli, which has two locations in Downtown Detroit and Dearborn.  The fact that he has made an effort to invest in the city that he played in.  I have also heard that even though he may play for another NHL franchise next year, he has no plans on moving his family from Michigan.  When many people are looking for reason to leave the state, it is nice to hear about someone who has every reason to leave: STAY!!!
